The Things I’m Thankful For This Winter Season
There is a word that, whenever I pause to think about it, immediately calls to mind everything I have to be thankful for.
When I slow down and truly reflect, the list grows quickly. I’m thankful for a car that gets me to work. I’m thankful for warm clothing to wear. I’m thankful for a job where I get to help provide people with hope and healing. These may seem like simple things, but they are powerful reminders of how richly blessed we truly are.
In some of my darkest days, I leaned heavily on the words of Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
That scripture has carried me through moments of uncertainty, fear, and doubt. It reminds me—and I hope it reminds you—that God’s plans for your life are not accidental. They are intentional, loving, and far greater than anything we could imagine.
If nothing else, please remember this: God has plans for you that are exceedingly, abundantly more than what you could ever ask or hope for.
I pray that you lean into your faith. And every time you think about your future, that you ask God for guidance, patience, love, courage, and the ability to handle whatever comes your way.
Even when you don’t know what to say, Scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit speaks for us through our groanings and cries. The Holy Spirit knows exactly what you need and carries that to God—even though God already knows your heart and your deepest desires. He still loves when we invite Him into every part of our lives.
At Simple Life, I fully believe in the good in this world—because I’ve seen it. I’ve seen the good that you do. We walk alongside people in moments of joy and in times of struggle. We see resilience. We see growth. And most importantly, we see all of you.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for the work you do, the compassion you show, and the hope you help bring into the lives of others—every single day.
With gratitude and faith,
Sheri
